What if...
... we BRING DOWN barriers between cultures
... we empower youth to change the world
... we use cultural traditions to innovate
BETTER TOGETHER
Future Roots encourages Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth to work together, in the awareness of their cultural traditions, through art and social innovation practices for future economic development and positive social change.
ReThink.
ReInvent.
ReUnite.
Future Roots is a Program where Indigenous communities in urban areas become the engine of change to create a common vision between Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth.
A common vision that places cultural traditions as central to change the way we relate to each other, the way of understanding nature, of doing business and innovation.
And above all, the way of how to envision a better future for both communities at the same time.
Through the union of Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth, and the development of their creative and innovation skills, Future Roots seeks to create projects that promote economic opportunities for both, stimulate cultural awareness in cities, build more diverse communities, and increase social wellbeing for present and future generations.

What if everything begins from the roots?
Sharing, listening and caring about who we are, where we come from and where we want to go, is the best way to create lasting and meaningful relationships that allow beneficial changes for all.
Future Roots is a long-term program that creates a space within urban Indigenous communities, for Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth to come together, grow and create based on a shared understanding of their traditional cultures.
The Future Roots Methodology is designed to be adaptable to any community, approaching them through a process of sharing and learning of each culture involved, with attention and respect.

In this way, we can ensure great success whilst not leaving anyone behind.
Everybody in!

Youth is the future of change
What if we could all benefit from young people’s drive to create positive change?
Future Roots is a youth-led community innovation program that takes heed of young people’s generational social values —such as the celebration of peoples differences, a sense of stewardship of the planet ecosystems and caring of ourselves. Thus creating a space to share both concerns and desires and most importantly, to find solutions. It is a place to team up and envision a common future, together.
Young people are ready now more than ever, to get involved and solve problems in their communities, we can enable them to become future leaders, to create meaningful work and well-being for all.

What if we support and help each other in ways we never imagined?
When we talk about a community, we won't let anyone behind. Our intention is to generate benefits for the largest number of people.

These are some of the side benefits brought on by Future Roots ᗒ
Community Development
Increase the presence of Indigenous communities in cities
Encourage and build innovation skills into the social fabric
Empower youth competitiveness and leadership
Help foster creativity and innovation from urban indigenous communities to the broader community.
Showcase the potential of ideas, talent and innovation of Indigenous communities.
Development of economic opportunities
So...
what...
is the outcome?
It’s all About Community
The direct outcome of the program is the development of a cross-cultural youth team that will create an innovation project.

This project will be able to foster economic development opportunities, focused on bettering the urban environment, raising awareness on the stewardship of the land, and serving the broader community.
How do we do it?
Engage.
Learn.
Ideate.
Develop.
What if we build a cross-cultural youth team?
What if we look for new perspectives?
What if we invent new solutions?
What if we design, plan, and prototype our ideas?
How do we do it?

We take cross-cultural and cross-generational knowledge to innovate through a hands-on R&D experience.
Develop.
Ideate.
Learn.
Keeping in mind our environment and our situation in a broader global context, Future Roots Method contemplates collaboration with field experts and community members. It also combines Indigenous and non-Indigenous cultural traditions with the insights of science, art and entrepreneurship.

Our process strives to find new ways in which communities, institutions and businesses get involved and come together for a greater good.
What if we walk side by side to accomplish this?
In Culturans we pride ourselves on creating meaningful relationships through our projects.

Working hand in hand with the communities we meet, asking how we can help and become an ally to generate positive changes.
