Global Immersion Programs

Connecting international
communities with
the living dynamics
of Mexico City.
What if... international students and communities could step beyond traditional study abroad to engage directly with the cultural, urban, and creative fabric of Mexico City?
Culturan’s Global Immersion Programs are custom-designed immersion programs for universities, faculty-led groups, student delegations, and international learning offices. Our experiential journeys spark curiosity, cultivate creative problem-solving, and foster global collaboration through real-world engagement.

Rather than observing from a distance, participants enter into active dialogue with Mexico City, a metropolis renowned for its adaptive systems, ancestral wisdom, and creative practices.
We approach the city not as a backdrop, but as an active collaborator and a profound source of learning and inspiration.

Global Immersion Program Case study
Partner: OCAD University (Toronto) Format: 5-Day Experiential learning lab Participants: 11 International Students
From February 15–21, 2026, the program Creative Contrasts: From Contrast to Creation took place in Mexico City. Organized in collaboration with the International Programs & Collaborations Office at OCAD University, Toronto, and hosted by Culturans, the program brought eleven students from different backgrounds to Mexico City for an immersive creative experience.

Creative Contrasts was designed as an experiential learning laboratory to sharpen the creative lens— training participants to uncover beauty, inspiration, and hidden treasures in unexpected places. Moving beyond traditional study or tourism, students engaged directly with the city’s dynamic ecosystem through curated daily experiences, site visits, guided explorations, and reflective practice.
Local
Perspectives
& Reciprocal Exchange
Over five days, participants explored Mexico City’s powerful contrasts— heritage and innovation, stillness and chaos, community and individuality.

Through encounters with civil associations, local artists, galleries, entrepreneurs, cultural leaders, and changemakers, students gained rare access to local perspectives and processes while being challenged to move beyond observation and into deep presence.

Rather than extracting insights, students were invited to listen, reflect, and engage in mutual exchange.
Transformative Outcomes
The program fostered resilience, curiosity, and adaptability— core competencies for today’s creative leaders.

Each activity was intentionally designed to deepen observation, expand creative thinking, and translate lived experience into personal documentation, insight, and artistic response.
Through urban explorations, creative exercises, and collaborative discussions, participants translated lived experiences into personal journals and reflective documentation, resulting in a Digital Exhibition shared with the OCAD U community during the university's 150th anniversary celebrations.
Toronto-Mexico City,
connections across borders.
By creating a meaningful bridge between Toronto and Mexico City, Creative Contrasts demonstrates how intentionally designed, ethically grounded immersion programs can unlock inspiration, ignite innovation, strengthen collaboration, generate lasting impact for participants and host communities alike while empowering the next generation of creative thinkers.
A special Appreciation to our generous collaborators who hosted specific activities to experience Mexico City through a new lense DURING THE CREATIVE CONTRASTS PROGRAM:
